Closing down for the season….

The academic year is coming to an end. Yesterday the course CIMP was closed with students presenting their advice. Today, I graded the reports of the three groups I coached.  As a teacher I feel students (in general, not just my three groups) could have done more with their assignments. I think they could have called more upon us as teachers and provide us with more samples of their work. Now, some groups only handed in drafts of their reports at the end of the ride, so there was not much we could do, other then asking questions about the why and the how, and making remarks about the structure of the report. Had we received more drafts during the whole process, we could have been guiding them more on content as well, and help them to reach a higher thinking level. I feel that some advices are too superficial now, and I think that is a loss for both the students and clients.

Today, the course Atelier 2 had it’s final day as well. Students presented their webquests and a poster of their designprocess. I was amazed by the creativity of the students, all the quests looked great! From talking to the students and the pictures I saw of some of the try-outs they had with the actual targetgroup (primary education), I gather the quests do not only look great, they actually work too! Since my task in the course was grading the papers they wrote on the design phase, I had not seen the final quests before. Tomorrow I will grade their revised papers, and then all my courses are finished. I still have some bachelor and master graduate students, so I will still keep myself busy (or rather: they will keep me busy :-) ).
